Week 5: Hawks, Gophers, and Pigs

I smell bacon.

The Hawkeyes won the right to hoist the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy after beating Minnesota last year at Kinnick.

The Hawkeyes won the right to hoist the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy after beating Minnesota last year at Kinnick.

Last year, Iowa demolished Minnesota during Homecoming at Kinnick Stadium.  It was an emotional victory since Floyd hadn’t spent more than a night in Iowa City in over 2 years.  This weekend the Hawkeyes, Floyd, and yours truly will be heading north across the border to play at Minnesota for the annual rivalry game.  Let’s hope the Hawkeye momentum swing continues for another week and we can retake Floyd and keep him safely in the friendly confines of the Hawkeye football complex for another year.

In reviewing my footage from last years game, it is easy to tell Mark Weisman ran all over the field, LB Christian Kirksey had a pick-6, and the Gophers had a very difficult time sustaining any kind of a drive.  Here are some of my top shots from last years game at Kinnick.  I look forward to sharing the action this weekend from TCF Bank Stadium.  It looks like I’ll need some rain gear…
