There really isn’t anything more I can say to wrap up the week that was that hasn’t already been said by everyone else. Iowa won the game against FCS opponent Missouri State University 28-14. I certainly was hoping for (and expecting) a dominating performance by the Hawkeyes. There were moments when it did seem as though someone tilted the Kinnick turf downhill enough to provide a slight roll to the offense. And the defense did a decent job ensuring the win was ours, as Tanner Miller made the interception when the Bears were threatening in the 4th quarter. Optimistically speaking, this game probably will get chalked up to “playing to the level of competition”.
Staying with that good vibe, I’m going to keep choosing the optimistic path. You have to like what Mark Weisman did running the ball 30 times for 180 yards. You also can’t really complain about the performance of Jake Rudock in just his second start of his collegiate career, even with the pick-6. I also watched my fair share of other college football games and I can confirm that other teams – ranked teams – have difficulty catching the ball sometimes, too. Here are some of my favorite shots I was able to capture on Saturday from inside and around Kinnick Stadium.
