Who is Missouri State you ask? Perhaps you’re more familiar with Southwest Missouri State University? Still doesn’t do it? Well, I’m sure you haven’t forgotten good ol’ Steve Alford, right Hawk fans? Steve left the Ozarks and SMSU for Iowa back in the Spring of 1999. My sister is a graduate of what was the former SMSU, so I have a bit of a connection, although I haven’t visited Springfield, MO since 1980. SMSU became Missouri Sate University a few years ago to differentiate themselves from the other directional Missouri universities. My alma mater set the trend in Missouri for renaming. I attended the former Northeast Missouri State University, which is now called Truman State. But, hey, this is supposed to be about football, so let’s get back on track.
This game should be the proverbial walk-in-the-park for the good guys in black and gold. It had better be, right? Iowa is seen as a 24 point favorite. If this game is not a 40 point blowout, I’m not sure it will feel like a win worthy enough of removing the bad taste of nearly 12 months without a win. Besides that, I’d like to see a few of the newbies get some snaps. I’m ready to see the LeShun Daniels show in full force. I don’t want to take anything away from Weismann, Bullock, or Canzeri, but we need to unleash the beast. Here’s a few more pics I took from last week to get you in the mood.
See you at 11!
