Iowa Hawkeye incoming freshman RB LeShun Daniels introduced himself boldly to HawkeyeNation last night during the annual Kid’s Day Scrimmage at Kinnick Stadium. It’s not clear how many of the roughly 12,000 fans in attendance knew of this newcomer before they arrived, but everyone knew his name afterwards. What’s even less clear is if he’ll see game action during the season, or if he gets handed the redshirt, as the Hawkeyes look to be very deep at the running back position. No, I’m not afraid of AIRBHG, or rules violators, or anything like that. I’m going to call it like it is: Iowa has a stable of horses at the RB position. But, from what I could tell with my amateur eyes, LeShun Daniels belongs at the top of the list. If you were to compare LeShun Daniels to any other Hawkeye RB, the first name to jump out has got to be Shonn Greene. Big. Bruising. All day, every day furniture-mover. Here is a slideshow of a sequence of a play I captured of Mr. Daniels, No. 29. Check out the arms on this guy. He has all the right moves and a frame to do them.
